Here are some of Steve's bets

27th May 2009 (Issue #23)
"We have two decent races up North to work on this weekend, starting at Haydock when as things stand MAIN AIM will be going for the Timeform Jury Stakes at 3.05 if the going is considered suitable. He could hardly have been any more impressive than when winning a competitive handicap at Newbury by an easy seven lengths last time out and if the Sir Michael Stoute yard have finally unlocked the key to his considerable talents we have a potential sprinting superstar on our hands." BET: RACING: Main Aim to win the Timeform Jury Stakes, Haydock, 3.05 p.m., Sat. 30th May: WIN @ 7/4

"On Friday, the Oaks really does look to be between the first three in the betting and being as blunt as I am, I will tell you now my money will be on SARISKA. Trained here in Newmarket by Michael Bell, who has already won theDerby with Motivator, she will be ridden by Jamie Spencer, which will please some of you, and horrify others! A very lightly raced filly, she only had the one run as a two year old when winning a seven furlong Newmarket maiden last November, before being put away for the winter to grow and strengthen. She reappeared at Newbury in what used to be called the Fred Darling Stakes over a totally inadequate seven furlongs when clearly in need of the run and did well enough to finish a running on fourth behind Lahaleeb who in turn finished runner up to Again in the Irish 1000 Guineas so the form is solid. Better still, she showed the benefit of that run and the need for more of a stamina test when bolting up in the Group Three Musidora Stakes at York, running on strongly at the end of that ten furling contest which is a well recognised trial for the fillies classic. I hear that she has improved again for that run and will take all the beating Friday and will be well suited by the likely fast going. At the end of last season the John Gosden trained Rainbow View had the world at her feet and she was expected to have the Guineas in the bag before heading to Epsom. Sadly, her world fell apart at headquarters when a well beaten fifth in the first classic where connections blamed the fast ground. But as the turf is likely to be similar or possibly faster for this race, why oh why are they even running her and I'm sorry, but I cannot have her in the circumstances and see the Henry Cecil trained Midday as a more likely danger to my selection? Henry knows how to handle a top class filly FACT and she has had some Epsom experience when runner up here to favourite Debussy on her return in April but then went on to take the Lingfield Oaks trial Against her on sex and as she will handle the track and the trip she could be the one for all you forecast backers. BET: RACING: Sariska to win The Oaks, 4.05 p.m., Epsom, Friday 5th June: WIN @ 9/4
